TRAINING

Technical Writing is today better described as technical communication (TechComm), because it includes many additional skills alongside the ability to describe products in clear language. OBW has been training qualified technical communication professionals for almost 20 years, adapting constantly to the changing needs of Israel’s expanding and evolving hi-tech sector. From hi-tech to biotech, agri-tech, green-tech, fin-tech, and clean-tech, the entire tech industry worldwide offers many exciting new career opportunities for people who have good writing skills and are tech-savvy.

TechComm Foundations

Starting with an overview of what TechComm is and the role of the TechComm professional in today’s modern hi-tech company, the course covers all key theory for the field. It focuses on how to analyze the needs of any project so that you can create the right information in the right format for the end-users. The course covers the most common types of technical documents that TechComm professionals create, and covers unique types of content, such as writing task-based topics.

This course teaches you how design concepts improve usability, and how to use project management techniques to manage your interaction with colleagues, whether in a small start-up or a large complex company.

The Foundation course covers some of the most commonly used DTP (desktop publishing) tools and HATs (Help authoring tools). You will gain hands-on experience and develop materials that will form the basis of your first professional portfolio.

Participation in these courses is conditional on candidates fulfilling certain requirements. Click here for details.

If you already have some or most of these skills, ask about our Advanced TechComm Topics course, and talk to us about customizing a syllabus to suit your needs!
